Classroom Academic Integration

GeoMotion TV Classroom Academic Integration

Learning would be enhanced if teachers integrated academics with moving.  A powerful example of this would-be children learning the six simple machines in science.  After combining the words - lever, wheel and axel, pulley, inclined plane, wedge, and screw with the experience of moving like one of the machines they are much more likely to retain and understand the concept.

  • According to Dr. John Ratey (Harvard), to improve our brains, we must move our bodies.  Exercise generates a greater number of connections between neurons. These connections make it easier for children of all ages to learn.
  • “Movement wires the brain. Educators must understand and value the learner’s sensory (brain) and motor (body) integration.
  • Educator, William Glasser states that learning improves dramatically when multiple senses are engaged.
